Conversations Framework brings together all of the pieces of the puzzle needed to teach social communication effectively. This program provides what you need to plan and facilitate groups in which participants learn the range of skills they need to engage in conversations. These materials are designed for adolescents and young adults - including those with learning disabilities, language disorders, Asperger syndrome, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorders, or developmental delays.
Includes a series of lessons focusing on 6 conversational moves:
• starting a conversation
• maintaining a topic
• extending a topic
• requesting clarification
• responding to requests for clarification
Plus, an additional 150 activities that build key foundation skills needed for successful conversations (such as perspective-taking, turn-taking, nonverbal communication, vocabulary, sentence structure, and organization of language) are included. A Classroom Communication Scale and Foundation Skills Checklist are included to help you identify needed skills, and a Conversational Moves Rubrics that allow you to monitor progress.
